Bhubaneswar: The fitment committee set up to finalise the modalities of the 7th pay commission recommendations for the State government employees and pensioners, began holding discussions with various employee associations from today.

According to sources, the fitment committee will hold discussions with 117 employee associations. Associations representing the teachers and lecturers are being given priority, said sources.

“As a part of our responsibility, we have presented our demand for grade pay before the State government’s fitment committee. The Committee took note of our demands and we are hopeful that the government will consider our demands,” said secretary of the Odisha Revenue Service Association, Rajendra Kumar Acharya.

“This was the first meeting of the fitment committee. Today we held discussions with representatives of 20 employee associations. The associations have produced their demands in writing. We meet representatives of various employee associations and will collect their demands. Then we will do a detailed analysis,” said development commissioner, R Balakrishnan.

Notably, on October 31 the State government constituted a 6-member fitment committee. The committee will submit its review report within 4 months.
