50 rooms gutted in fire mishap in Bhanjanagar, foul play suspected

Berhampur: Around 40 families at Harijansahi in Barpali of Ganjam district were rendered homeless after a major fire broke out in the area on Friday night.

Though no casualty has been reported, over 50 rooms have been completely reduced to ashes in mishap. As people were sleeping when the incident occurred, they could not save their property and other savings.

Though the exact reason behind the cause of fire is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected to be a handiwork of some miscreants over power theft allegation between two groups.

On receiving information, police reached the spot and have started investigation into the incident.

On the other hand, it is alleged that the district administration has not provided any kind of assistance to fire affected families.
