Bargarh: In a major crackdown against the illegal transportation of body parts of endangered animals in the state, the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, on Wednesday, seized 50 kgs of Sambar deer horns and bear nails being transported from here illegally.

Acting on a tip-off, the Bureau busted the racket and arrested one from Bhatali in Bargarh forest range on charges of illegally transporting them.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested youth was transporting them outside Odisha.

The Sambar deer is categorised as highly endangered and comes under Schedule III of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, officials said adding that more information in this regard will be available after detailed interrogation.
