5 persons detained in Puri lodge owner murder

Puri: Police have detained 5 persons in connection with the murder of a lodge owner in Puri. Notably, Chandan Behera was murdered on the lodge premises situated under Sea Beach Police limits yesterday. Chandan was attacked by 2 miscreants while entering the lodge premises on a scooter along with his friend Krushna Chandra Pradhan.

The miscreants attacked Chandan with sharp weapon on the back of his neck and hand following which he died on the spot.

His friend Krushna Chandra was also injured in the attack.

Police suspects past enmity to be the cause behind the murder.

On the other hand, Chandan’s wife and family members reached Puri today morning. Police have handed over Chandan’s mobile phone and other belongings to his family members.

“He has never discussed about his enmity with anyone with me. There were no problems and I cannot think of any enemies. I have hope that the culprits will be nabbed after investigations and I will get justice,” said Chandan’s wife, Nibedita Behera.

“We have already identified the accused after examining the CCTV camera footage and spot verification. Now they are absconding. We are examining their details and taking all necessary precautions. They will definitely be arrested,” said Puri SP, Sarthak Sarangi.
