Cuttack: In a sign of the widening scope of the the investigation into the crime empire built over the years by the Dhalasamant brothers (D-brothers), Commissionerate Police have detained five more persons for links with the dreaded gangsters.

The five persons detained are reportedly associates of D-brothers or their business partners. According to sources, these persons were supervising the sand mining and tender business managed by D-brothers. Criminal cases are also pending against these persons, informed police sources.

Meanwhile, interrogation of D-brothers during the third phase of their remand entered the third day today. Sources claimed that more and more illegal activities carried out by D-brothers are coming to fore while more people are coming forward and breaking their silence against the atrocities of the dreaded criminal duo.

Police have also got information about the D-brothers’ involvement in the murder of dreaded criminal Sagar Panda in Kissannagar, Cuttack in 2012.

Yesterday, Police arrested Suvendu Das alias Pinta, one of the main persons involved in the abduction and killing of Dipu and Om along with the Sushil and Sushant Dhalsamanta brothers.

Moreover, Ishrat Jahan, wife of Malgodown pulses trader Mohammed Farooq who was murdered in November 2014, met DCP Sanjeev Arora yesterday and urged him to book her husband's killer, expressing suspicion that he was bumped off by D brothers.
