Cuttack: Members of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) rescued a 4-year-old girl child from her paternal-aunt's house at CDA Sector 11 in Cuttack today after a video of the minor being brutally beaten went viral.

The video, being shot by an unidentified person, showed the minor was being beaten with a broom by her aunt for reportedly refusing to wash clothes.

CWC rescued the child after receiving a complaint based on the footage.

Bruises were found on the girl's body and she said that her aunt beats her regularly. She even said she does not want to go to her parents, who stay in New Delhi, as they also beat her.

When asked about the incident the girl's aunt said, "I beat her because she was doing mischief and her parents know about it. She is staying with me since nine months and I have asked them to take her. They have assured to come in one or two months. She does not want to go as her parents will beat her more."
