4-yr-old girl abducted as father fails to repay loan

Khurda: A woman has been accused of abducting a four-year-old girl child after her father failed to repay a loan taken from the woman in Jhianka Sahi under Banpur police limits in Khurda district on Friday.

As per sources, the girl along with a few others was on her way to the Anganwadi when one Labani Sahu of the same village intercepted and abducted her. When the girl did not return from the Anganwadi, her family searched for her following which they were informed that she was abducted by Labani. Later they found the girl confined in Labani's house.

The mother of the girl in a complaint lodged at the Banpur police station alleged that her daughter was kidnapped as her husband failed to repay Rs 9000 they had taken from Labani. She stated that they had taken Rs 9000 from the woman, of which they had already returned Rs 3000.

However, the girl was later released after a few relatives of the family members helped them repay the rest loan amount.

Meanwhile, family members of the girl have demanded action against the woman. Further investigation is on, sources added.
