Koraput: Four students of Mahadeiputa Seva Ashram in the district were sent to the Juvenile Justice Board today by police for thrashing a Class-I student of the school.

The Class-I student identified as Saroj Bhoi is undergoing treatment at the Koraput Sadar hospital after sustaining serious injuries on his hands, chest and neck.

According to sources, four students of Class-IV and V, on January 10, called Bhoi to an isolated place on the pretext of playing and allegedly thrashed him mercilessly. When Bhoi lost his consciousness, the four senior students threw Bhoi into a drain beside the school suspecting him dead.

After a frantic search, family members of Bhoi rescued him from the drain in critical condition and admitted him to the hospital.

Balabhadra Deepa, Koraput SDPO, said, "The four students thrashed him and threw him in the drain."
