Keonjhar: At least four persons were killed and five others critically injured after the auto-rickshaw they were travelling in collided with a trailer near Dangapani in Keonjhar on Wednesday.

The mishap occurred at around 9 am when over seven labourers from Danla village were on their way to Keonjhar in the auto-rickshaw.

According to reports, the accident occurred when the driver of the auto-rickshaw was trying to overtake a truck and rammed into the trailer coming from opposite direction.

The deceased have been identified as Siba Patra, Benu Patra, Keshab Patra and Suresh Patra.

Police said, it is suspected that mishap could be due to rash and negligent driving on part of the autorickshaw driver as he failed to spot a trailer while taking a sharp turn on the road.

Following the accident, all the injured have been admitted to separate hospitals while the condition of two persons is said to be critical.

 

A team of doctors have been looking into the treatment of the injured while two of them would be shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital for advanced treatment.
