Rayagada: Tension prevailed in front of Anwesha Hostel at Saipriya Nagar in Rayagada on Sunday after four students of the hostel were allegedly thrashed by seniors.
As per sources, the four students were attacked by some seniors soon after the lunch break following an altercation over some issue.
They have sustained injuries on their back, waist and hands.
The incident came to light after parents of the students, who were beaten up, noticed injury marks on their body.
"We come to visit our child every Sunday. I spotted the injury marks when I was bathing my son. When asked if their teacher had beaten them, the students then briefed the entire incident," said mother of an injured child.
"After lunch, the children had a fight over arranging their belongings . Later, their parents arrived and saw the marks on their body," said Hostel Superintendent Surendra Behera.
Following the incident irate locals staged demonstration in front of the hostel.
The situation was brought under control after Rayagada Sub-Collector, District Welfare Officer and police reached at the spot and assured appropriate action in connection with the matter.
