350 rare turtle species seized in Chitrakonda; 3 held

Malkangiri: More than 350 rare species of turtles were seized and three persons arrested by forest officials in Chitrakonda on Thursday. The turtles were being illegally transported in an auto rickshaw at a local market in MV-79 under Kalimela police limits.

A forest official said the rare turtles had been kept in eight bags and were recovered from an auto rickshaw at 8 pm while being transported by the three men illegally to MV-79 in Kalimela from neighbouring state Andhra Pradesh.

The vehicle was also seized by the forest personnel from the three persons.
