Bhadrak: Baansada police have arrested 31 persons for arson and violence following the death of three labourers in a coal heap collapse on the Dhamra Port Company Ltd (DPCL) premises on August 15.

The arrested persons have been identified as residents of Doshangi and Koithakola panchayats.

After the death of the three labourers, hundreds of people including some labourers went on rampage ransacking the DPCL office. The mob even torched the main gate of the company and misbehaved with the CEO Subrat Tripathy.

DPCL has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 20 lakh to the next of kin of the three deceased labourers and employment to one family member along with monetary assistance for education of the children of their families.
