Rayagada: Around 30 activists of various political parties were detained by police this morning prior to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s visit to Rayagada district today.

While nine Congress activists were detained at Kashipur, eight BJP activists, seven from the Congress and two from the Aam Admi Party (AAP) were detained at Rayagada. Police have seized eggs and black flags from some of the activists. All necessary security arrangements have been made in view of the CM visit, said Rayagada Additional SP Patitapaban Choudhury.

The Chief Minister would visit the district to inaugurate and lay foundation stones of various projects. He is scheduled to land at the Rayagada GCD High School at 11am and inaugurate a new building of the government hospital. Patnai would later visit Kashipur to inaugurate various developmental programmes and attend a meeting.

Patnaik would later go to Gumuda village to inaugurate a bridge over the Bansadhara river.
