Narayanpatna: Four women Maoists were killed during an exchange of fire between security personnel and left wing extremists near Dokari ghati in Narayanpatna of Koraput district last night.

The four ultras are believed to be members of the Andhra-Odisha Special Zonal Committee of CPI (Maoist).

As per reports, a joint team of District Voluntary Force (DVF) and Special Operations Group (SOG) launched combing operation in the Dokari ghati area after getting a tip-off on Maoists presence.

The four ultras were gunned down after an exchange of fire between the security forces and red rebels during the combing operation.

While bodies of three Maoists were recovered last night, another body of a red rebel was recovered this morning by the security personnel.

A huge cache of arms, ammunition and items used by Maoists were also seized from the spot.

"Out of four women, one has been identified as Ungli alias Aart of Chhattisgarh. She was carrying a bounty of Rs 4 lakh," informed Kanwar Vishal Singh, Koraput SP.

As many as 15 Maoists were suspected to be present at the spot during the exchange of fire, he added.
