Rourkela: In a tragic road mishap, four including three students were killed when an auto rickshaw carrying school-goers was hit from rear by a dumper truck near Soaimba in K.Balanga of Sundargarh district today.

Out of 13 students travelling in the auto rickshaw, three including a girl student died on the spot whereas ten students have sustained injuries. The auto driver was also killed at the accident site.

Locals rushed the injured to the Lahunipada hospital for treatment. As enough doctors are not available at the CHC, eight critically injured students were shifted to the IGH in Rourkela.

Meanwhile, tension prevailed at the spot as locals staged a road blockade demanding immediate arrest of the absconding driver and owner of the dumper truck.

Police have reached the spot to investigate the matter.

A pall of gloom has descended in the area following the death of students in the horrific road mishap.
