3 pachyderms die of electrocution in Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: Decomposed bodies of three elephants including a calf were found in the Borapada forests of Dhenkanal district today.

After receiving information, forest staff reached the spot and started a probe into the deaths.

As per preliminary probe, two female elephants and the calf are suspected to have been electrocuted after coming in contact with live wires in the forest two to three days ago. The bodies were found entangled in electric wires.

Some villagers, who had gone to the forest near Dhenkanal town to collect firewood, discovered the dead pachyderms and informed the district administration.
