3 of family, including woman attacked over land dispute

Nayagarh: A woman was brutally attacked over a land dispute between two families at Raj Jankia village under Chandpur police limits in Nayagarh district today.

Sources said Chandra Sekhar Majhi and Bichhed Samantsinghar of Raj Jankia village had a long-standing feud over land issue.The incident took place when Samantsinghar’s family attacked the family members of Majhi. Besides Majhi, his daughter and granddaughter were also critically injured in the attack.

On the other hand, Majhi alleged that the Chandpur police did not pay any heed to his plight when he brought the matter before them. With no option left, Majhi knocked the door of the SP seeking justice.

Additional SP Sridhara Pani said an investigation into the incident will be conducted and action will be taken against persons found guilty.

“FIR has been registered against five to six persons in this connection. All accused have absconded. Search is on to nab them. Besides, the injured have been sent to hospital for treatment,” Pani said.
