3 killed, 5 injured in accident near Khurda

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic accident, three persons were killed and five others sustained critical injuries when a Scorpio in which they were travelling in lost control and hit a truck from behind on National Highway No 16 near Badapokharia area here on Sunday morning.

According to sources, the incident took place while the ill-fated Scorpio was on its way to Bhubaneswar. The vehicle lost control and hit a truck from the back side causing the death of the three on the spot.

The vehicle is owned by Digapahandi NAC vice chairman Pabitra Pradhan, who also sustained injuries in the accident, the sources added.

All the injured persons were first rushed to a hospital in Khurda and later shifted to Bhubaneswar when their condition deteriorated.

Jankia police has started investigation into the matter.
