Bolangir: At least three employees were severely injured in an explosion inside highly sensitive Badmal Ordnance Factory in Bolangir here on Friday.

Though the exact reason behind the explosion is still unclear, it is suspected that the mishap occurred during testing of arms and ammunitions at factory’s unit No-15 between 11 am and 11:30 am today.

The three injured identified as junior works managers—Devi Niranjan Rout, Pradip Sahu and Sauri Narayan Pandya have been shifted to VIMSAR, Burla and their condition is said to be still critical.

As Badmal Ordnance Factory is a prohibited area, a clear picture is yet to emerge in connection with the explosion.
