3 die of asphyxiation inside under-construction tank

Paralakhemundi: 3 persons died of asphyxiation inside an under-construction septic tank at Puduni village under Paralakhemundi police limits of Gajapati district.

According to sources, another person has been admitted to hospital in critical condition.

The deceased have been identified as Hari Behera, Mina Behera and Chandrashekhar Guru. The accident occurred when the victims went inside the tank to remove centering and shuttering.

“The tank should have been left open for some time for oxygen to pass but the victims went inside right away following which they died of asphyxiation. The incident occurred at around 2-3 PM and a report has been lodged,” said Paralakhemundi SDPO, Utkal Ranjan Das.
