3 cops detained by villagers while trying to rescue 2 suspected thieves

Angul: Angry villagers in Chandanpur under Bantala police limits in the district detained three policemen while they were trying to rescue two youths.

As per reports, the villagers had caught the youths for alleged stealing of electricity cables in the area.

On being informed, the cops tried to rescue the two youths but the irate villagers detained them too.

The villagers had apprised the police several times of the rising incidents of thefts in the region but they were never heeded, said sources.
