Bhubaneswar:  Carrying out investigation into the mysterious death of a senior technician of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Sunabeda, police have arrested three persons in connection with the incident.

The accused have been identified as Rajendra Kumar Rout, Jagadish Chandra Paiba and Arun Jena. The trio was present inside the Sukhoi-30 aircraft plant inside the company when their colleague Ranjan Sethi sustained burn injuries on March 3.

With over 70 percent burn injuries, Sethi, who was a technician at the plant, was shifted to a hospital in Vishakhapatnam while he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment March 7.

Though it was suspected to be a case of an industrial mishap, the wife of the deceased alleged that her husband was murdered. Basing on the complaint by the family of the deceased that Sethi was allegedly burnt to death inside the plant by his colleagues; police had registered a complaint and had earlier detained the trio for interrogation.

“We have arrested three persons under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 304 and 34 and produced them before court,” said Inspector-in-charge of Sunabeda police station, Yogeswari Behera.
