Berahmpur: Police today arrested five accused and recovered three bikes, four samurai swords and four live bombs from them in connection with the bomb hurling incident that took place last night.

Three special teams were formed to nab them. "One team chased the miscreants while they were proceeding towards Bhubaneswar. They opened fire first at police and our team too retaliated and captured five of them. The main accused-Balaji Sethy-managed to escape from the spot,” Berhampur Additional Superintendent of Police Trinath Patel said at a press meet.

All the accused will be forwarded to court today, he added.

The accused hurled bombs at two persons-Sushant Patra and Upendra Behera- after attacking them with swords at Fast Gate area under Bada Bazar police station on Saturday night. Soon after committing the crime, the miscreants fled from the spot.

The victims were rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition. Behera succumbed while undergoing treatment.  Patra’s condition is stated to be critical.

Police said, the incident is fallout of an old enmity.
