Bhubaneswar: Seats at engineering colleges in the State are likely to fall vacant this year as well due to a dismal number of students registering for the JEE Main entrance so far. OJEE Chairman Tushar Kant Nath informed only 22,500 students have registered for the all-India entrance test so far.

As per the AICTE guidelines seats at engineering institutes that were taking less than 30% admission in past five years will be halved. Nath said if this is implemented in the State, vacant seats issue will be solved.

Students can register for the JEE Main entrance on the official website - www.jeemain.nic.in . Last date for the registration is Jan 1, 2018.

Last year around 44,000 students had registered for the JEE Main but many seats remained vacant.
