Bhubaneswar: With monsoon active in Odisha,dengue has spread in the state with at least 225 people being affected.

"As many as 225 people have tested positive for dengue across the state. Of the affected persons, 13 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals," state Health and Family Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, who reviewed the situation today said.

While 12 people have been admitted at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, one patient is under treatment at Keonjhar District headquarter hospital, he said, adding special arrangements have been made for free test and treatment of the patients.

The highest number of 67 people have tested positive for dengue in the mineral belt of Keonjhar district but no death due to it has been reported so far, official sources said.

Nayak said special dengue wards have been opened at Barbil Community Health Centre in Keonjhar district besides at SCB Medical College and Hospital, and health experts from Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Sambalpur have been rushed to the affected area to treat dengue patients.

Additional district medical officer, Keonjhar, S S Bal said the situation is "under control".
