Sambalpur/ Dhenkanal: As part of BJP’s nationwide ‘Yaad Karo Kurbani’ campaign, two Union ministers on Wednesday visited Sambalpur and Dhenkanal districts to pay tributes to freedom fighters from the state.

Union Tribal Affairs minister Jual Oram visited Khinda village in Sambalpur to pay his respects to freedom fighter Veer Surendra Sai. To mark the occasion, party workers and leaders visited the village in a rally. Senior leader Suresh Pujari accompanied Oram during the programme.

Consumer Affairs minister Chhotu Ram Chaudhary visited the birthplace of martyr Baji Rout, the teenage boatman who laid down his life for the cause of Indian independence, at Nilakanthapur village in Bhuban block of Dhenkanal district and paid rich tributes to one of the youngest freedom fighters.

A bike rally was organised from Baji Chouk square to Bhuban in Nilakanthapur by the members of the saffron party. Senior party leaders like Rudra Pani and Dhenkanal district unit president were present during the occasion.

Union Telecommunications Minister Manoj Sinha will visit the native place of Chandan Hajuri, popularly known as Chakhi Khuntia, at Harachandi Sahi in Puri town on August 20.

The ‘Yaad Karo Kurbani’ programme, organized by the saffron party to offer tributes to freedom fighters all over the country, has started from August 9 and would culminate on August 23.
