2 trampled to death by elephant in Angul

Bhubaneswar: At least two persons including a woman were trampled to death by an elephant at Changudia village under Kaniha forest range in Angul on Sunday.

The deceased have been identified as Babula Sahu (24) and Ahalya Sahu (50).

The incident occurred when the duo was on their way to a nearby agricultural field. An elephant that had strayed close to the human settlement attacked them.

The incident has sparked off tension in the village as the locals have demanded stern measures to put a check on incidents of elephants straying into human settlements in the area.

The villagers are demanding immediate installation of solar fences, trenches and watch towers to prevent man-animal conflict in the area.
