2 School Girls Attempt Suicide In Hostel, Admitted To Hospital

Kandhamal: Two Girl students studying in an Ashram school in Pakana village of Kandhamal district were hospitalized in critical condition after they consumed excessive iron tablets in an attempt to allegedly commit suicide here on Sunday.

According to the Matron of the school, the girls, reportedly a Class IX student and another a Class X student, had been to their homes for Puja vacations. Seeing that the duo was not willing to return to the school, their parents forcibly dropped them at the hostel and left.

However, the girls, allegedly attempted suicide by consuming excessive iron tablets following which they fell sick. Immediately the duo was rushed to Phulbani District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where they are undergoing treatment.

"The girls do not want to study neither do they want to stay in a hostel. They had gone to their homes during vacations. Angry after their parents left them at the hostel, they consumed iron tablets. I have no idea how many tablets they consumed," said Matron Geetarani Sahu.

Staff Nurse of Phulbani DHH, Jayanti Jena said, "The duo was irritated and so consumed iron tablets. However, there is no reason to worry. Both are safe."
