Bhubaneswar: Two rice mill owners were arrested by Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Odisha Crime Branch for misappropriation of government rice worth over Rs 4 crores.

The accused have been identified as Dilip Agarwal of Sabitri Industries of  Badchana in Jajpur and Pankaj Agarwal of Ganapati Industries in Bhadrak.

Through a tweet, Special Director General of Police (CID, Crime Branch) BK Sharma informed that Dilip Agarwal was arrested for non-delivery of rice worth Rs 3 crore after taking paddy from Agricultural Cooperative Societies.

Similarly, Pankaj had also not delivered paddy worth Rs 1.22 crores and both the accused will be produced before the court today.

Senior officials of EOW informed that  both the rice mill owners were arrested basing on the FIR registered by Odisha State Civil Supplies Corporation in connection with the failure in delivery of rice after receiving paddy by the defaulters.

Two separate cases were registered and special teams were formed to investigate the matter by the Crime Branch’s EOW.
