2 killed, 2 critical in car-truck head-on collision

Rayagada: Two persons were killed while two others sustained grievous injuries after a car in which they were travelling collided head on with a truck near Pitamahal Chhak in Rayagada on Saturday.

The accident occurred at around 10 am this morning when the car, reportedly coming from Andhra Pradesh, collided with a goods-laden truck coming from Rayagada in the opposite direction.

Getting information, Rayagada police and fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and began rescue operations.

As per reports, two persons were killed on the spot and other two who sustained injuries were rushed to Rayagada Sadar Hospital in a critical condition.

Meanwhile, palpable tension prevailed in the area after the driver of the truck managed to give a slip soon after the incident.

"The car has been completely damaged. The identity of the four persons travelling in the car has not been ascertained yet. The driver of the truck is absconding while investigation is on," said a police official.
