2 held for extorting money from lovers at Konark beach

Konark: Police have arrested two youths on charges of taking intimate pictures of two lovers at Konark sea beach and blackmailing them in order to extort money.

The two youths were identified as Suryakant Mohanty and Suryakant Sahu of Balakati on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.

As per sources, they had clicked some intimate pictures of the lovers and, posing as journalists, asked them to pay money with a threat to upload the pictures on social media.

Acting on a tip off, police reached the spot and nabbed the two. Besides their arrest, police also seized their mobile phones.

On the other hand, the lovers were detained by the police and handed over to their respective families.

"They had clicked pictures of the lovers and were blackmailing and extorting money from them by posing as OTV reporters. The two youths have been held and action will be taken against them as per law," said IIC of Konark police station, Arun Kumar Tripathy.
