Bhubaneswar: Two accused in the murder of Kasinath Badu, alias Kunu, a servitor of Lingaraj temple, were awarded life sentence on Monday. Bhubaneswar ADJ court awarded the sentence to convicts Kunia Mohapatra and Akshaya Mohapatra.

As per reports, Kunu was allegedly hacked to death on the night of August 8, 2010 following a rivalry with another group of servitors over alleged unequal allotment of assignments by the shrine trust.

During investigation, police came to know that there was a rivalry between servitors of Brahman Nijog and Badu Nijog. Kunu along with few other servitors of Badu Nijog had a clash with the servitors of Brahman Nijog on the evening of August 07, 2010.

On the morning of August 09, 2010, police found Kunu's mutilated body near Kotitirtha temple, a kilometre away from the Lingaraj temple. Three persons had been arrested by the police in this connection.
