New Delhi: The Centre on Sunday agreed to Odisha Government’s request for deployment of additional two companies of Rapid Action Force (RAF) keeping in view the palpable tension in Bhadrak following posting some objectionable religious remarks against deities on social media.

Earlier, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had discussed the situation in Bhadrak with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh during the Inter-State Council (ISC) meeting held at New Delhi today.

“I had apprised the Union Home Minister about the Bhadrak situation and requested him for two companies of Rapid Action Forces which would arrive shortly in Odisha,” said Patnaik.

Already, one company of the RAF and CRPF along with a riot control vehicle has been deployed in Bhadrak.

Besides, 35 platoons of police force have also been pressed to maintain law and order by Odisha Government to restore normalcy in the region.
