Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated 182 drinking water supply projects for 113 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in Odisha and also laid foundation for 555 new projects.

Inaugurating the projects through video conferencing at Barabati Indoor Stadium in Cuttack, Patnaik said, "Every house, every habitation and every street of all urban local bodies will get 100 percent piped water facility. The project will eradicate problems of our women and it will be completed within one year."

The 182 drinking water supply projects were built at a cost of Rs 157 crore. Similarly, Rs 783 crore has been allocated for construction of the 555 new drinking water projects that would cater to the needs of the people of 101 ULBs.

Patnaik also inaugurated six new water testing laboratories set up at Bhubaneswar, Puri, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Cuttack and Baripada. Odisha will have to no more depend on neighbouring states for water testing after inauguration of these facilities.
