Man hangs self over family feud; wife attempts self-immolation

Dhenkanal: A man committed suicide by hanging himself in his house while his wife, who attempted self-immolation, was rescued in half burnt condition at Oukhama village under Sadar police station in the district last night.

Locals rushed the woman to district headquarters hospital where she was referred to Cuttack after her condition worsened.

Narayan Sahoo and his wife Nayana, who originally belong to Bhatimunda of Tangi, were staying in Oukhama village for last several years on rented basis. Both were into brass work profession.

A quarrel was ensued between the two last night over some family dispute, locals said. The incident is suspected to be an outcome of the family feud, police said.

The body of Narayan has been sent for post-mortem. Investigation is on, police added.
