Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: The Supreme Court (SC) is likely to hear the plea seeking an additional third round of counselling for around 1,600 vacant seats in medical and surgical courses across the country.

Senthil Nathan, the doctor who filed the petition, mentioned in his plea that nearly 1,600 seats are vacant even after the second round of counselling and to resolve the matter he recommended a third round of counselling.

As per reports, a three-judge bench of the SC, headed by chief justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra, will hear the plea on September 22.

It is worth mentioning that the apex court had made the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) mandatory for admission to undergraduate and post-graduate medical courses.

Meanwhile, the Students appearing for NEET across the country will have same question papers or the translation of the question paper in English.

Union Human Resource Development minister Prakash Javadekar had earlier said that vernacular question papers for the NEET examination for entrance to medical colleges will be mere translation of the question paper in English.
