14 acre Ganja cultivation destroyed in Rayagada

Rayagada: A joint squad of Rayagada police and excise officials raided  Ganja cultivation fields near Sata village under Padmapur police limits in the district today.

Standing crops of Ganja in about 14 acres were destroyed by the joint team.

The team included district Additional SP Patitapaban Choudhury, Excise Superintendent Prasanna Kumar Acharya and the Gunupur SDPO. Police said raids will also be carried out in other places of the district.

"The district police and the Excise unit have jointly taken up an initiative to destroy ganja plantation. In the first phase, we have destroyed illegal cannabis cultivation near Sata village. Such illegal cultivation in other areas of the district would be destroyed in phased manner," said the  Additional SP.
