Bhawanipatna: Even as the matriculation examinations began from today across the State, as many as 12 students of Manikeswari High School here are deprived of the test due to non-issuance of admit card. Enraged over the matter, the students and their guardians locked the gate and staged dharna outside the school.

They alleged that the students were not given the admit card even as they had filled up the examination form in time. The school authorities took no measures for the candidates even after they drew their attention in this regard.

“We have deposited the required amount of fee towards examination. The teachers have cheated us even as we have contacted them for last four/ five days. We failed to attend the examinations today”, said Chuman Rana, a student.

The parents expressed displeasure over the alleged negligence of school authorities. “We have spent enormous amount on tuition for last one year. Now, the whole academic year will go in vain. The head master strongly refused to issue the admit card. What shall we do now”, said guardian.

The District Education Officer (DEO) said the students can’t attend the examination due to some problem in filling up of forms. “ So, they can’t appear in the exam as there are some problems in filling up forms. I could have done something if they bring the matter to my notice earlier. We can’t do anything at the last moment, but I assured them of making all arrangements for them to attend supplementary examination. Now, there is no difference between annual and supplementary examinations”, DEO Pradeep Nag said.
