12 Maoists arrested in Malkangiri

Malkangiri: In a major breakthrough, the Malkangiri police have arrested 12 Maoists after carrying out combing operation at several places in the district.

Police said the arrested ultras were involved in various crimes, including murder and violence.

Sources said, in view of the rising number of incidents of Maoist menace in the district during the recent past, police had intensified combing operations in the most affected areas like Kalimela, Mathili and Nakamamudi.

During police interrogation, it was revealed that the 12 arrested, working in different Maoist divisions, were involved in the recent murder of three persons suspected of being police informers in the district.
