Bhubaneswar: Once again 12 Odia labourers have been left stranded in foreign shores and are unable to return home as their Visas have expired since October 2017.

The matter came to light after the labourers stranded in Oman recorded their plight in a short video and pleaded for help from their families back home.

“Nobody is listening to us. We are trapped here and facing problems for the last four months as we have exhausted all our stocks and money,” said one of the labourers in the video.

The Odia labourers hail from several parts of Khurda, Chilika and Ganjam districts.

According to reports, the labourers had moved to Oman and Muscat some four years back with an agent to work in a company.

Though their visas expired in October last year, no step was taken by the company authorities to renew their stay in the country. As a result, they are confined to their rooms.

After getting their SOS on mobile, the family members on Thursday approached the Balugaon labour officer to take necessary steps for rescuing the labourers.
