Bhubaneswar: As many as 12 young boys and girls belonging to fishermen communities and tribes residing on seaside areas of Odisha have been selected to take part in a yachting training programme scheduled to be held in Chennai from February 6.

The training programme is being organised by the Yachting Association of India.

"The players from Odisha have performed well in wind surfing. Pleased with their performance, the Yachting Association of India has invited us to participate in the event. We will leave for Chennai on February 12 with a team of 12 players from the State," said Sabir Baksh, secretary of Odisha Yachting Association.

International wind surfer Manaswini Maharana said the event will be a new experience for her. "I have participated in wind surfing competitions many times at national and international levels. But, this is a new format of surfing. Inspired by me, many young girls have come forward to undergo such training."
