Dhenkanal: A day after BJD workers protested the visit of two Union ministers - Santosh Gangwar and Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti - to Bargarh and pelted stones damaging the Union Textiles Minister's vehicle, Dhenkanal police on Saturday detained 50 BJP workers ahead of chief minister Naveen Patnaik’s visit to Gandia.

The 12 BJP workers had been detained from Baji Rout Chowk area on security considerations, police said adding they were hatching a plan to show black flags to the chief minister.

Notably, the chief minister will visit Gandia at 11.30 today to inaugurate the south Rengali canal.
