Rayagada: The management of the emergency ambulance services especially in remote areas has once again come under scanner after a person died allegedly after 108 ambulance failed to arrive on time here on Thursday.

The incident has been reported from Dangasil village under Kalyansinghpur block of the district. The deceased has been identified as Ranjit Suna, who worked as a bonded labour.

According to reports, Ranjit was rushed to a primary health centre after he fell sick and the doctor at the centre asked family members to shift him to district headquarters hospital in Rayagada as his condition deteriorated.

Following the doctor’s advice, the family members kept on contacting 108 ambulance service, but in vain.  Though  the family tried to shift Ranjit in a bus , he died on the way to the hospital.

The Chief District Medical Officer has assured of inquiry into the incident.
