Puri: At least 100 people aboard a ferry boat were left stranded for about 20 minutes in Chilika Lake today after it developed a technical snag.

The ferry, carrying two buses and over 15 bikes besides the passengers, left the Satapada ghat at around 7 am this morning to Janhikuda.

However, barely after heading 200 metres from ghat, the ferry came to a halt.

It was only after twenty minutes that another ferry arrived and rescued the passengers, while the stranded ferry was later pulled ashore, said sources.

Though the ferry driver claimed that the boat got stranded due to a technical glitch, a few passengers alleged that the driver was inexperienced.
