Bhubaneswar: Ten police personnel from Odisha will be conferred with Republic Day Police Medals as per the list released by the Ministry of Home Affairs in which 795 policemen from across the country have been chosen for the coveted honour.

Three constables from Odisha Anant Kadraka, Tedyourampa Sabara and Kumar Huika have been selected for Police Medal for Gallantry while seven others will receive the Police Medals for Meritorious Service.

Those selected for the award for meritorious service include B Durgaprasad Rao (ASI, Bhubaneswar), Sk Anwar (ASI, Bhubaneswar), Sudhansu Mohan Dehury (Havildar, Koraput), Satrugna Baral (Constable, Vigilance Directorate), Narendra Pal (Constable, UPD Bhubaneswar), V Nageswar Rao (Constable, Cuttack) and Sanjay Kumar Ray (Sepoy, OSAP BN Bhubaneswar).

A total of 795 police personnel from across the country have been selected for the medals this year.  Police Medals for Gallantry (PMG) will be conferred upon 107 policemen, President’s Police Medals for Distinguished Service upon 75 and Police Medal for Meritorious Service upon 613 policemen.

Among the 107 policemen receiving gallantry awards, 66 are from J&K, 35 from the areas affected by Left Wing Extremism and three from the North-Eastern region. Policemen receiving gallantry awards this year include five IPS officers.
