Bus topples over in Phulbani, 10 injured

Phulbani: As many as 10 persons were injured, two of them critically, as a bus carrying them met with an accident on NH-157 near Ranipathar Ghati in Kandhamal district late last night.

The injured were immediately rushed to the district headquarters hospital, Phulbani. Two critically injured were shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur as their condition deteriorated.

According to sources, the bus - Silk City- was on its way to Rourkela from Berhampur when the driver lost control at a turning near the ghat allegedly due to overloading following which the vehicle toppled over.

"I was on a tour to Rourkela from Bhanjanagar. After the accident, we were worried about our family members and not even able to trace our luggage," said a passenger who survived the accident with minor injuries.
