Bhubaneswar: India bagged a silver and a bronze medal at the FIDE World Junior Chess Championships held at the KIIT University campus here.

While PV Nidhia bagged a silver medal in the girl’s event, Sundil Dutta Narayan won a bronze medal in the boys’ segment.

Jiyong Jaferi of USA became the champion in boy’s category while Dinara Sadukoshova of Kazakhstan won the gold in girl’s category.

Odisha Governor SC Jamir, who was the chief guest at the award giving ceremony, gave away prizes and trophies to the winners.

The championship, which was organised by Odisha Chess Association, witnessed 145 participants from 54 nations across the globe.
