Bhubaneswar: One seat at IIT Bhubaneswar remains unclaimed even after five rounds of seat allocation conducted by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) for admission into IITs, National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs).

As per reports, the particular seat is in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category and as there was no eligible candidate for the seat, it was not allotted.

In the fifth round of seat allocation conducted on Sunday, nearly 69 vacant seats from various IITs were reassigned. After the round was over close to 421 seats remained vacant across all institutes.

Joint Entrance Examination-Advanced (JEE-Adv) office had informed many seats remain vacant as students are allowed to withdraw admission till the sixth round.

The office hopes that there will be no more vacancy this year after seven rounds of seat allotment. Last year, 76 seats remained vacant across IITs after six rounds. No withdrawal of admission will be allowed in the seventh round.

The sixth and seventh round of seat allotment will be announced on July 18 and July 21, respectively.
