1 killed, 7 injured in lightning

Rajgangpur/Baripada: One person was killed and seven members of a family injured in separate incidents of lightning strike during a Nor'wester in the State on Monday.

As per reports, the deceased has been identified as Sido Hansdah, a resident of Ghumala village in Mayurbhanj district. The mishap occurred when he  was returning home after finishing work at his farmland.

On receiving information, police reached the spot and sent the body for a post mortem.

In another incident, one Basu Tappo of Lakhughati area in Rajgangpur and six members of his family were injured after lightning struck them.

They were rushed to the Rajgangpur hospital by locals. Of them, condition of two persons is stated to be critical.

Last evening the gusty Nor'wester accompanied by showers and lightning flashes was experienced in Rajgangpur.
