Soro: In a tragic incident, one person was killed and 15 others sustained injuries after a private bus in which they were travelling lost control and hit a stone-laden dumper on National Highway-5 at Khantapada in Balasore district late on Friday night.

According to sources, the incident took place around 2.30 am while the bus with around 30 passengers in it was on its way to Baripada from Bhubaneswar.

The ill-fated bus lost control and hit a stone-laden dumper from its backside causing death of a passanger on the spot leaving 15 others injured. Out of the 15 injured, condition of three injured persons is stated to be critical, sources added.

While the three critically injured persons have been shifted to Cuttack, the others have been admitted to Balasore hospital, sources informed.

“After the accident, all the passengers of were rescued through bus windows and later shifted to Balasore hospital by ambulance. We have seized the bus and dumper,” said sun-inspector of Khantapada police station.
